how to start making money online outline for beginners

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is when we promote other people’s products and earn a commission for each sale that we refer to the Vendor.

It is very easy to work with affiliate marketing because we don’t have to do anything other than sending Traffic (visitors) to the sales page through our affiliate link.

If the people we refer make a purchase then we get paid!

And the best thing about it is that we don’t have to deal with any of the hassles.

We don’t deal with refunds or customer support, all we do is send traffic to sales pages.

There are tons of affiliate programs to sign up with and it is free to do so.

We can promote anything we can think of and make money because there are affiliate programs for any niche.

Some affiliate programs pay up to 75% so it is also very profitable.

This tutorial is about making money online for beginners and affiliate marketing is the primary means to do so, at least in this tutorial so now that you know what affiliate marketing is, let’s get to the fun stuff.

How to do Niche research for beginners

The first step before we start promoting affiliate products is to choose a niche that we can enter.

It becomes a lot easier if you choose something that you enjoy talking about or something that you are knowledgeable about because it is extremely boring to create content in the long run if you don’t enjoy reading or talking about your niche.

A niche is basically a market or a topic.

The niches that tend to be the most profitable are the ones where people have a problem and need a solution.

Or something that people must have whether they like to or not.

Things people are passionate about tend to work very well also.

So the first step is to figure out what niche you can enter.

Here is what you can do:

Take a pen and paper and write down the hobbies that you have (or would like to have).
Write down things you are good at where you can help others (you don’t have to be an expert, just one page ahead of your customers).

Or write down things that you own that you can promote and make Money with.

Once you have a list of things you could potentially make money with you can do the following:

Go to

See if you can find any products in these niches to promote.

You can also go to jvzoo or Amazon. has Everything you can Think of to sell as an affiliate but you have to have your own blog/website to register an affiliate account with them so it will not work with a free blog.

(If you choose to follow this guide with a real blog that you own then you can follow these steps using amazon affiliate program too.)

Or go to google and type in “your niche + affiliate program” and see what comes up.

If you find a niche that has more than 2 products to promote that each can pay you over $30 in commission per sale then you have something that you can make money with.

All you would need is 3 or 4 sales Daily to make about $100 per day.

Once you have found a niche to work with and some products you can promote.

Start a blog

It is very easy to create a blog nowadays.

Most hosting companies allow you to install WordPress with 1 click.

If you want to start a blog with paid hosting (which is the best way to do it), then you can check out my tutorial on how to start a blog for profits.

I use Siteground web hosting for my blog. You can read my siteground review here.

I will now tell you how to start a free blog which also works very well for this.

You can head over to and start a free blog.

All you need is a google account so if you have Gmail, you can use that account if you would like to.
Simply head over to the blogger and choose to create a new blog.

Pick a name for your blog that relates to your niche.

For example, this blog is about making money online and internet marketing. My URL is

This is the url.

enter name and url of your blog

So when you make a blogger blog, your domain name will be like that + at the end, you can see it in the image above.

Pick something that relates closely to what your blog will be about and make sure you like it because you can’t change it after!

You can change the Title but not the address URL.

Once you have done that, choose a theme. and press create a blog.

You can change the theme later so just pick something for no if you don’t know which one to choose.

Now that you have made your blog –

head over to settings and insert a Blog description.

add a blog description

That is the description of your blog so that people and the search engines know what your blog is about.

You can also edit it later and insert some keywords (we will get to that later on in this guide).

Now you can go to setting and search preferences.

add meta description to your blog
Put in a meta description so the Search Engines know what your blog is about.

Now you have your own blog so you can begin to promote affiliate products on it.

Create Content for your blog that can make money

Now it is time to create content for your blog so that you can make money with it.

One very good way to earn money online, and it is also quite beginner-friendly, is to write product reviews and insert your affiliate link in the review article.

That way, you get paid every time someone who reads your review and decides to go and buy it.

Reviews are very good to earn money because people who search for a product review oftentimes are right on the fence about buying it.

They just want some more feedback and affirmation that it is the right decision, so it is very easy to get that type of visitor to purchase through your affiliate link.

A review article doesn’t have to be the best in the world, it can be 500-600 words of you telling people what the product is, who it is for, what they get if they buy it, and what it costs.

You don’t have to buy the product to write an article like that, and as long as you don’t tell them that you have used it, you’re not doing anything wrong. Just give them the information they need.

Here is an easy way to write a product review for affiliate marketing.

Get a text file open.

Go to the sales page and copy and paste all the features of the product and the information into the text file, you need to give your visitors.

You can also go and look at competitor’s sites and read through their reviews to see what they say.

Then, simply write your own version of a unique product review.

Don’t copy anyone’s words. Write your own review.

Make it at least 500 words but over that would be better 1000 + words would be the best.

Once you have written your review.

You can do some SEO and insert your main keyword and primary keyword once or twice in the article (more on SEO soon).

Another way to produce content for your blog to make Money:

You can also write articles to sell affiliate products on your blog.

When someone has a problem and looks for a solution, it can be in the form of an ebook or a course or something that you can sell.

So you can write “how to” articles and answer people’s questions and provide a solution in the form of a product and make money that way.

For example:

If someone wants to know how to start a blog, you can tell them how to do so and in the tutorial promote a web host.

Or if someone wants to learn how to get fit before this summer, you can write an article about fitness exercises and promote fitness equipment or a training course on your blog.

The trick is to find “keywords” people are searching for that aren’t too competitive to rank on the search engines.

To find this keyword we need to do keyword research for SEO.

What is SEO and how can I do keyword research?

SEO stands for search engine optimization and it is basically when you optimize your blog website for the search engines.

The goal is to rank on google and other search engines for keywords that people search for.

A keyword is a word or a string of words that a person would type into a search engine.

The easiest keywords to rank for quickly are called “Long tail keywords”.

A long tail keyword is basically a keyword with more words added to it.

For example:

How can you make money online with Clickbank.

That is a long tail keyword.

Make money is not.

The more words that are added to it, the fewer people will have the exact match on that keyword in their title, headings, and post content.

That makes it less competitive and easier to rank for.

A keyword like “make money online” can take years of work to rank for but a long tail keyword like, “how to make money in 2020 online for complete newbies” can rank in days or weeks depending on your blog authority.

So how do you do keyword research for affiliate marketing?

Head over to

It is best if you create an account. It’s free, and it lets you Digg in deeper, in your keyword research.

Type in your niche and start from there.

In this example, Ill use “affiliate marketing”

keyword research affiliate marketing example

As you can see, it is marked yellow and has high competition.

It is very difficult to rank for that particular keyword.

On the other hand, the long tail keyword “how affiliate marketing works with amazon” is a lot easier.

affiliate marketing with amazon example

Has just a few searches (these keyword tools are not completely accurate, just guidelines)
But it is possible to rank for a keyword like that in a relatively short time frame and you can get visitors to your site and promote products to them if you write quite a few of these types of articles to your blog in your niche.

Here is how I came to the conclusion that “how affiliate marketing works with amazon” is an easy keyword.

You can do this yourself when you are researching keywords.

Go to google and type in the keyword.

Look at Google’s front page to see if your competitors are using that exact keyword in their titles, in their content, or in their URL.

At the time of writing this, nobody on the front page used that keyword in their title, URL, or content but they rank for it anyways.

example of an easy keyword to make money with

And the sites on the front page are not extremely hard to compete with so chances are good you could rank for it easily.

You can also use, or to research ClickBank products or amazon products to see if people are searching for the product you want to sell.

How to do SEO for your blog post

Here is an outline you can follow.

Choose the primary keyword.

That is the main keyword you want to rank for. Put it in the title of your post.

Put it once or twice in your article.

It is good to put it in an H1, or H2 tags.

The H1 tag is Header. You can highlight your text and change it from paragraph to Header 1 in blogger.

inserting h1 and h2 in your blog post

Choose a secondary keyword and insert that one into your post.

In an h2 or h3 header or in the content of your post.

You can also sprinkle out related keywords in the article that are synonyms and that people might also search for.

If you have written a product review then the main keyword might be the product name and review, “PRODUCT review”.

And a secondary keyword might be “does PRODUCT work?”

Simply insert the keywords in the title and content of the article.

There is more to SEO but this is an abbreviated version. You can google it and find out more because there is a lot of information about it.

Create articles and reviews and build up your blog so that you have content on it that you can begin to promote.

The more articles and reviews you write and publish on your blog, the better.

How to promote your affiliate marketing blog and start making money

Ranking on search engines can take time. It can take months for a new blog to rank.

Although some keywords are so easy that you can rank on the front page as soon as your blog gets indexed by google.

You also need to promote your blog for it to go up in ranking.

You need backlinks from other websites that point to your site.

The Google bots crawl their website and find the links and follow the link to your blog and pass on authority “link juice” to your blog and it increases your ranking.

That is the main factor that determines how well you rank.

If you do a google search for a keyword that has lots of searchers, you will find sites ranking on the front page.

Those sites are there because they have the most backlinks.

They also have good content on their sites but links is what gives a site its authority.

So you need to go out on the internet and get links from other websites.

It is not difficult to do, but it requires work and it takes some time.

That is one of the main reasons I recommend buying a domain name and using a paid web host.

Because as you build up your site, it becomes more valuable and it becomes an asset that you can sell in the future if you want to. You can’t sell a free blog.

But a free blog works fine for beginners.

How to promote your blog and blog posts for FREE traffic

Go to places where potential customers hang out and talk to them.
When possible, leave a link back to your blog or the individual post you want to send them to.

You can make sales this way also, without ranking on google.

Blog comments

Go to the blogs in your niche and leave comments in their comments section.
If your niche is “internet marketing” then search for internet marketing on Google and see what comes up.

Go to the blogs you find with a comment section. Read through their content so you get an idea of what you can say and then write a comment.

You can leave a link in the website field, often under your name and submit your comment.

If it gets approved by the site owner, you have a link that posts to your blog so their visitors can potentially click on it and go to your site.

See if you can find a creative way to put the link to your blog post in the text of your comment also.

blog comment example

You can do a few of these per day and over time it builds up to where you have enough daily visitors to make consistent sales.

It is 100% free traffic!

You can also go to related forums in your niche and participate in discussions and ask questions.

Oftentimes, forums allow you to leave a signature. You can put a link to your blog in the signature.
So every time you leave a comment, you get a backlink and there are lots of people on forums who can come and visit your blog and buy products.

Social media

Create social media accounts on your blog and link them to your blog and blog posts on your social media accounts.

Here are a few you can use

People can also share your content if they like it and if they do you get backlinks from them as well.

This method of starting niche blogs and promoting affiliate products with free traffic is a time tested method. It worked in 2007 and will work in 2020 and beyond.

It does take some time and it requires work but it really pays off if you stick to it for a while and decade an hour or two to build up your online blogging business. A couple of months from now you can have a passive income from it and the work you do now can pay you years from now.

Because once you have written a review and published it, it stays there and gains more and more trust with time in the eyes of Google and you can sell that product a year from now also even if you don’t touch the article again.

So the more you post, the more you build up authority and the more content you have that can make money for you.

This is how to make money online for beginners and it is a duplicatable process you can do over and over for several products and niches.

I hope you found this useful and that it helps you make money online.

Take care.
